The desktop is 100% solid wood. It is not veneer, laminate, MDF, or particleboard. Each top has natural grain and edge variation, so every desk will look slightly different.

Our standard size options on this page are cut from a single solid wood slab whenever the desktop depth is 29.5" or less. Here, “depth” means the front-to-back measurement of the desk, not the length. For example, our 80"x29.5" desktop is 80" long and 29.5" deep, so it falls within our standard single-slab depth range. For custom desktops deeper than 29.5", we may use carefully joined solid-wood boards to achieve the requested depth while maintaining strength, stability, and a natural grain appearance.

Yes. The desktop is finished with a clear matte UV-cured topcoat that helps protect the wood from everyday spills, moisture, cup rings, and light heat while keeping the natural wood look and feel. For best long-term care, wipe up coffee, wine, water, or oily spills promptly and use coasters or pads for very hot items. It is designed for daily work use, not delicate display-only use.

Yes, the standard desktop comes with natural live edges on both long sides. If you prefer a live front edge + straight back edge, please leave a note with your order or email us with your order number after placing the order.

Leg clearance is measured inside-to-inside, from the inner side of one lifting column to the inner side of the other. Because the frame is telescoping, this clearance can be adjusted during assembly within the listed range. For comfortable chair movement, we recommend choosing a chair that is at least 2"-4" narrower than the available inside clearance.

The lifting system is rated at under 48dB during movement. It is not completely silent, but it produces a soft, low hum rather than a harsh mechanical noise. In a very quiet room, you may notice it while the desk is moving; in a typical home office, it should feel unobtrusive and easy to talk over.
